The Epe community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Otun Jamiu Olanrewaju, fondly known as Otun, who succumbed to liver cancer after a prolonged health struggle.
Unlike the sudden passing of Domingo abroad, Olanrewaju’s death came after years of courageously battling a liver-related illness. He was based in New Jersey, United States, where he underwent treatment and experienced remarkable recovery that gave renewed hope to family and friends.
His improved health enabled him to return to Nigeria, where he reportedly held a thanksgiving service in appreciation of his recovery. However, his condition later relapsed, and despite efforts to manage the illness, he eventually passed away in Nigeria on the same day Domingo died in France.
Friends and associates have described his demise as the end of a brave and determined fight against a prolonged illness. They noted that his resilience, faith, and optimism throughout the battle remain a source of inspiration to many.
Olanrewaju’s passing has continued to attract tributes and condolences from colleagues, loved ones, and members of the Epe community, who lament the loss of a respected figure whose courage and strength will not be forgotten.
