The people of Epe have been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden death of one of their illustrious sons and prominent member of Club 70s, Michael Adeleke Domingo, who passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, under different circumstances.
Domingo, a respected labour leader and Chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), reportedly took ill while attending the ongoing 114th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. He was rushed to a hospital in Annemasse, France, where he sadly gave up the ghost.
In a condolence message signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, the government described Domingo’s death as shocking and painful, noting that he was a dedicated advocate for workers’ welfare, rights, and interests. The statement further revealed that arrangements are already in motion to repatriate his remains back to Nigeria.
The Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) also expressed grief over the passing of Domingo, describing him as a peaceful and widely respected leader whose sudden death has left a huge vacuum in the labour movement.
Domingo’s demise is not only a loss to the labour community but also to the entire Epe division, where he was regarded as a beacon of service and commitment. His contributions to the struggle for better working conditions will remain indelible in the hearts of colleagues and comrades.
